The Gernatt Companies possess a rich history established in Collins, New York. Originally a dairy farmer, Dan Gernatt Sr. began marketing gravel items from his farm in 1946. Thanks to a lifetime of hard work and long hours, Dan and his family have been able to develop a sound and stable business. Dan has provided several jobs locally and takes great pride in the team of dedicated employees that help accomplish the companies’ goals.

Since the opening of the Collins site, the Gernatt Companies have grown to include operations in Chaffee, Delevan, Freedom, Gowanda, Great Valley, Hanover, South Dayton, and Springville. Asphalt is produced in Collins, Springville, and Delevan, and all locations, except Delevan, produce washed and crushed sand and gravel products. The New York State Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation approve Gernatt’s quality materials for use in their road maintenance and construction projects.

The Gernatt Companies have a long history of involvement in Western New York projects. Gernatt products have been used at Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bills, Dunn Tire Park, home of the Buffalo Bison, and HSBC Arena, home of the Buffalo Sabres. Gernatt products were instrumental in the completion of the New York State Thruway and have been used extensively in completing the Southern Tier Expressway (Route 86). While serving the six counties of Western New York as its home market, Gernatt has also successfully marketed products as far away as Long Island, New York.

As times and technologies have changed the Gernatt Companies have exhibited tremendous flexibility in staying on top of new developments in the industry.
